It’s no surprise that Jim Brickman -- who juggles an active career as composer, recording artist, radio personality and concert headliner -- would know the value of music as an important healing tool for relaxing after a stressful day. But it wasn’t until he met with fans after his concert performances that that he realized how often his music was played as a soothing antidote to the hectic demands of everyday life. When a young couple confided that they couldn’t unwind after a harried day without playing the songs of Jim Brickman, the creator of such hits as “Valentine,” “The Gift” and “Love of My Life” was inspired to a write, perform and produce “ESCAPE,” an album of fresh new solo piano and pop vocal compositions. Gathering together some of the brightest young rising stars in the music industry toperform on the new album with him, Jim Brickman‘s “ESCAPE” features appearances by Sara Evans -- the Academy of Country Music’s “Female Vocalist of the Year” for 2006 -- the warm and sensual voice of R&B star Gerald Levert, and smooth jazz guitarist extraordinaire Marc Antoine. Jim Brickman will give his fans the opportunity to “ESCAPE” with him this autumn as he begins a five-month tour of North America beginning November 3. The official release date for SLG Records’ “ESCAPE” will be October 3. “ESCAPE” is a vivid tapestry of romantic piano solos, inspiring vocals and an exciting collection of original songs by Jim Brickman and collaborations with some of the top composers in the country. “ESCAPE” adds new classics to the Brickman’s impressive repertoire, including exquisite piano pieceslike“Waterfall,” the poignant “First Light” and the vibrant “Barcelona.” The cool, clean beauty of the winter season is celebrated in two new songs, “Winter Waltz” featuring a remarkable violin artist, David Klinkenberg, discovered by Jim Brickman in the Pacific Northwest; and the romantic “When It Snows,” with vocals by gifted singer/songwriter Geoff Byrd. “ESCAPE” also brings together Jim Brickman with Gerald Levert, a highly popular R&B artist in his own right, for a gorgeous lullaby, “Goodnight My Angel.”The two Cleveland natives attended the same high school before departing on vastly different musical paths. Brickman’s Latin-influenced title track on the “ESCAPE” album is given a fiery sensuality by jazz guitarist Mark Antoine. Another romantically-charged track, “To Hear You Say You Love Me” features the powerful voice of “Star Search” winner Jake Simpson, who counts Oprah Winfrey among his many fans. Renowned for his poignant ballads, Jim Brickman evokes the longing between two people separated by place and fate in “Never Alone” with the soaring vocals of Sara Evans. Every year new audiences discover the charismatic Jim Brickman’s music for the first time, through his CDs, concerts or radio airplay. Many of them write the artist to tell him how they include his songs into their daily soundtrack as a way of putting the stress and anxiety of an often chaotic world behind them. Jim Brickman’s “ESCAPE” is designed to make that journey even more magical. Jim Brickman’s remarkable career includes six Gold and Platinum selling albums, three #1 and twelve Top 10 Adult Contemporary radio hits, consistent debuts at #1 on Billboard Magazine’s New Age chart, a 2003 Grammy nomination, SESAC “Songwriter of the Year” award, a Canadian Country Music Award for “Best Vocal/Instrumental Collaboration,” a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association for “The Gift” and over a decade of sold-out international and American concert tours. |
